Terms and conditions
Last updated 23 September 2026.
These terms govern your use of WedConnect. By browsing the directory, listing a business or leaving a review, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.
1. Who we are
WedConnect is operated by Custom Craft Co, registration number 2021/524346/07, of 25 Fish Eagle Road, Langeberg Ridge, Durbanville, Cape Town, South Africa. You can reach us at vendors@wedconnect.co.za.
2. What WedConnect is, and what it isn't
WedConnect is a directory. We help couples find wedding suppliers and help suppliers be found. That is the whole of our role.
We are not a party to any agreement between a couple and a supplier. We don’t take bookings, hold deposits, handle payments, or guarantee that any supplier will turn up, perform well, or perform at all. A listing on this site is not a recommendation from us, and the presence or absence of a TrustScore says nothing about whether a supplier is right for you. Satisfy yourself about anyone you are about to pay.
3. Using the site
You agree not to:
- scrape, copy or republish the directory or any substantial part of it;
- use contact details found here to send unsolicited marketing to suppliers or couples;
- impersonate anyone, or claim a listing that isn’t yours;
- upload anything unlawful, defamatory, or that infringes someone else’s rights;
- interfere with the site or try to gain access to parts of it that aren’t yours.
4. Listings
If you list a business, you confirm that you are entitled to act for it and that what you tell us is accurate. Keep it accurate — an out-of-date listing wastes a couple’s time and reflects on all of us.
Every listing is looked over by a person before it goes live. To be clear about what that is and is not: we check that a listing reads like a real business and that the address given makes sense. We do not verify identities, inspect premises, check financial standing, confirm insurance or qualifications, or assess the quality of anyone’s work. A listing being here means it passed that look, and nothing more.
We may decline, edit, suspend or remove a listing at our discretion, including where we believe it is misleading, where a business has closed, or where the person who created it has no authority to do so.
Some listings are created by us from businesses couples have named in their plans, and are marked as unclaimed until the owner claims them. Claiming requires proof to our reasonable satisfaction.
5. Images and content you upload
You keep ownership of everything you upload. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, resize and display it on WedConnect and in material promoting the directory, for as long as your listing is up.
You confirm you own what you upload or have permission to use it. Wedding photographs usually belong to the photographer, not to the venue or the couple — if you are not the photographer, get their permission before uploading their work. If a rights holder tells us an image was uploaded without permission, we will remove it.
6. Reviews
Anyone who has used a supplier may review them. A review goes live once the reviewer confirms their email address. Reviews show a first name, the initial of a surname and the month of the wedding — never the reviewer’s full name, email address or phone number.
A TrustScore is the average of a supplier’s published reviews. No score is shown until a supplier has at least 3 reviews, because an average of one or two ratings tells a reader nothing reliable.
If a supplier disputes a review. A supplier may reply publicly to any review, and may report one they believe was not written by a real customer. Reporting does not hide the review: it stays on the site, marked as under review, while we ask the reviewer for something showing they dealt with the supplier — an invoice, proof of payment, a contract, or message threads. The reviewer has 14 days. If nothing arrives, we take the review down. We do not tell the supplier who the reviewer is, and we do not ask the supplier to confirm whether someone was their customer.
What we remove. We remove reviews that are abusive, name private individuals, disclose personal information, are written by anyone with a stake in the business or in a competitor, or that we are legally obliged to remove. We do not remove a review for being negative, and we do not remove reviews at a supplier’s request. Whoever writes a review is responsible for what it says.
By leaving a review you confirm you were genuinely a customer, that what you write is your honest opinion, and that you were not paid or induced to write it.
7. Scams, and protecting yourself
Wedding suppliers take deposits, and that makes this industry a target. The usual pattern is a convincing listing, an unusually good price, pressure to pay a deposit quickly by EFT, and then silence.
Before you pay anyone anything:
- speak to them — a phone or video call, and for a venue, visit it;
- get a written quote and contract with the business’s registered name and registration number on it;
- be suspicious of a price far below everyone else, and of anyone rushing you;
- pay in a way that leaves a trail, and never into a personal account when the quote is from a business;
- check the bank details by phoning a number you found yourself, not one sent to you in an email — changed banking details in a forwarded invoice is the most common wedding fraud there is.
We do not hold your money and we cannot get it back for you. We are not a party to your agreement with a supplier, we take no commission on it, and we have no power over their bank account. If you are defrauded, that is a matter for the supplier, your bank and the police — please also report it to us so we can remove the listing and warn others, which is the part we can do.
Report a scam or a fake listing. We act on these quickly.
8. Paid listings
Some features — including showing your contact details to couples and receiving enquiries — are part of a paid listing. Where fees apply, they will be set out before you commit to them, and we will give you reasonable notice before changing them.
9. Your personal information
We collect and use personal information as described in our privacy policy, which forms part of these terms. In short: we ask reviewers for an email address and a phone number so we can reach them if a review is disputed, and neither is ever shown on the site or given to the supplier.
10. Availability and liability
We try to keep the site up and the information on it accurate, but we don’t promise either. The site is provided as it is.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of the site or from any dealing with a supplier or a couple you found through it, including any loss relating to a wedding. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including under the Consumer Protection Act.
11. Suspension
We may suspend or remove any listing, review or account that breaches these terms. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the new version.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa, and the South African courts have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
