Privacy policy

Last updated 23 September 2026.

This explains what personal information WedConnect collects, why we collect it, who gets to see it and what you can ask us to do with it. It is written to be read, not to be got past.

1. Who is responsible for your information

WedConnect is operated by Custom Craft Co, registration number 2021/524346/07, South Africa — our registered address is in our terms. Under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) we are the responsible party for the information described here.

For anything in this policy, write to vendors@wedconnect.co.za.

3. What is shown in public

A review shows your first name, the initial of your surname and the month you married. Your full surname, your email address and your cell number are never published, never shown to the supplier, and never given to anyone else. They exist so that we can contact you if the supplier questions whether you were a customer.

For suppliers, whatever is on the listing is public — that is the point of a directory. The one exception is the street address: a supplier chooses whether it is published, and one who keeps it private also gets an approximate map pin rather than an exact one, because a precise pin would publish the address anyway.

4. Who else sees it

We do not sell personal information. It reaches other people in four ways:

  • The supplier you enquired with — an enquiry is forwarded to them, with your contact details, so they can reply.
  • Our hosting and email providers — the servers this site runs on and the service that sends our email. They process it on our instructions and for no purpose of their own.
  • OpenStreetMap — when a supplier types an address during signup, that address is sent to OpenStreetMap-based services to turn it into map coordinates, and the map tiles themselves are fetched from OpenStreetMap as you browse.
  • Anyone we are legally obliged to tell — a court order, or a lawful request we cannot refuse.

5. Disputed reviews

If a supplier reports your review, we contact you at the email address you gave and ask for something showing you dealt with them — an invoice, proof of payment, a contract, or message threads. You have 14 days.

Whatever you send us is used only to settle that question. We do not forward it to the supplier, and we delete it once we have made the decision. We never tell a supplier who wrote a review, and we never ask a supplier to confirm whether you were their customer.

6. Cookies

We set a cookie when you sign in as a supplier or as an administrator, so the site remembers you are signed in. That is all it does, and it is required for signing in to work.

We do not use advertising cookies or third-party trackers. If that changes, this policy will change first and we will ask your permission where the law requires it.

We do count how many times a listing is opened and how often its contact buttons are clicked, and we show those totals to the supplier. It is a number going up and nothing else — no profile, no identifier, no record that it was you. Your browser remembers which listings you have opened in this sitting so a refresh isn’t counted twice; that stays on your device and is never sent to us.

7. Keeping it safe

Traffic to this site is encrypted. Passwords are stored hashed, never in a form anyone here can read, and administrator access is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something — but if we ever discover a breach affecting your information, we will tell you and the Information Regulator, as POPIA requires.

8. Your rights

Under POPIA you may ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you;
  • correct anything that is wrong;
  • delete information we no longer have a reason to keep;
  • stop using your information for a particular purpose.

Write to vendors@wedconnect.co.za and we will deal with it. We do not charge for this.

One limit worth stating plainly: you can ask us to delete your review, and we will. You cannot use a deletion request to remove a review someone else wrote about your business — that is covered by the dispute process in our terms.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.

9. Children

This site is meant for adults planning a wedding or running a business. We do not knowingly collect information about children.

10. Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Where a change materially affects you, we will tell you rather than rely on you noticing.

Anything here you would like explained? Write to us — a person reads it.
